If cracks appear just keep moist and keep smoothing.

I put a thick layer of stucco on the base over rocks to help with drainage.

I started on the front and worked my way left. I kept the walls moist before applying the stucco, then when the stucco started to dry i would go back over it with a damp sponge and continue to smoothe out.

Now the process of keeping the rain from washing the mud walls. I decided to use stucco because it's easy to work with and provides a nice smooth hard shell. To keep the color natural I mixed in red clay and it gave it a sandy shade.

I'm testing the strength of the main beam of the roof.

I'm useing wire to hold the post together before i put the roof on.

I cut down an 8in oak tree about 16ft long for my roof beam. Im letting it dry.

I added 2x6's above each window to hold the wall and weight of the the oak beam, that way the weight of the roof is distributed among the wall.

I found this buried not far from the cob house, and now its going to be a small window.

Time for the windows . I used 2x4s and made square frames . I have nails sticking out of both sides to make sure the windows fit nicely in the walls.

Random things are fun to add.

I poke my fingers in the top of the walls to help the next layer of cobs fit.

I added two vent pipes in the back wall. I used 2in. PVC pipe.
